Menu Baby Blue, Philippines, 15-10-13

Among the nearly two hundred killed in the earthquake that hit the Philippines two weeks ago is a baby who, despite having lived a few hours, mobilized all aid around him in an attempt to save him.

Garon – so named after a basketball player – came into the world shortly after an earthquake of 7.4 on the Richter scale, which forced the evacuation of the hospital where he born, on the 15th of October. Along with the other patients, the newborn was taken precisely to a basketball court nearby. Footage aired now, nearly 2 weeks later, show a large medical team around the little baby, who, despite all the efforts of professionals and his own father – who spent the few hours of life of the child holding an oxygen pump to improvised so he could breathe – not resisted and died that night.
